BIOGRAPHY

Boy6lue, nee Corey Douglas but who also goes by the moniker of Rebel with Freckles, was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, but also spent parts of his life living in the New York borough of the Bronx. With both cities playing home to significant hip hop communities, it comes as no surprise that Boy6lue developed a strong taste for music at a very young age. As a young child, his CD collection grew rapidly after frequently persuading his mother to take him on trips to HMV to pick up albums by the heavy-hitters who inspired him like Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and DMX to name but a few. After immersing himself in the music, he began crafting his own remixes which then led to trying his hand at writing his own material at the tender age of only seven. By the time Boy6lue was in 7th grade, he hit the stage at his school’s Black History Month talent show to perform one of his own original songs. His passion for hip hop continued to grow as he listened to artists like Fabolous, Lloyd Banks and The Late Stack Bundles, subsequently paving the path towards his inevitable career in music. Boy6lue’s creations are raw, real and anything but cookie-cutter. His confident, real-life rap flows are showcased throughout his two mixtapes; “Da 6lue Era” and “Rebel W. Freckles” as well as on the group compilation “Year of the Key” featuring other artists on his very own label, Lowkey Entertainment. Through his original mixtapes and live performances, including opening for major artists like D12 and Wiz Khalifa, Boy6lue has built himself a solid reputation in the city’s hip hop scene. With two highly- coveted Montreal Hip Hop Awards under his belt for ‘Best Web Video of the Year’ and ‘Made You Look Artist of the Year’, as well as hundreds of thousands of hits on his music videos including the powerful Montreal anthem ‘Hometown’, his fan base chomps at the bit for new material. The combination of indisputable talent, resilient determination and his ability to speak to the streets, youth, and the masses alike make Bloy6lue a force to be reckoned with.
